This is my finished project from a class that I took with Lesley Riley at the Quilt Show in Chicago! The class was so great, we did many different mixed media parts to complete this art quilt! We did a medium transfer (the bird onto fabric) , we dyed the fabric the transfers are on, we did a water transfer off of glossy cardstock(the eggs), we painted the lutradur and used a tool to burn it and create the branches that are set over the bird image, we painted and burned felt to create the dimensional branches that are over the lutradur branches, and we have real branches over that. We painted the wood split eggs and created a pleasing fabric base for everything. Everyone in the class, and the class was full, did end up with a gorgeous piece and they all looked different depending on the colors that each person lended towards and their placement and style of course! This was just great fun and I loved the class! Hugs,Patti

Fabulous, Patti!!! I am sure you're going to take Leslie's teachings and just amaze us with your creations. What a wonderful place that show must have been!!! I am not a quilter, but wish I had the time for just one more creative outlet. Maybe someday I'll work it into my repertoire, but in the meantime I will just adore yours!!!

Hi Patti,
I was going to send you a personal email but I cleaned out my mailbox and I have your address at home. Thank you for your kind words about my upcoming Somerset Workshop opportunity. I am very excited and hope to do it justice!!!

That is a beautiful quilt! I'm going to have to sign up for a class next year. We spent our time at the museums on Saturday, but, I think I'd like to spend my extra day at a class next year.

Seeing your fabulous work and use of colour reminded me why I studied textiles all those years ago in the first place.

Wow Patti.... you are an amazing textile artist. I was just blown away by this beautiful quilt and all of the gorgeous images. If Leslie ever comes out to Australia I will be sure to take one her classes. Would love to learn those transfer techniques. So contemporary, just love it.
